Sense and Sense-Abilities

Imagine a car that extends and enhances your built-in senses to make driving safer and more enjoyable while reducing stress. Smart use of technology gives the new Fusion its own sensory system that enables it to see, hear and feel as it eases your passage through the world.

Digital cameras, radar and ultrasonic sensors keep watch around the car, allowing it to peer into spaces the driver may not be able to see. When the corners of your car are out of view, the only thing harder than judging whether a gap is big enough to slip into is actually maneuvering the car. The sensors at each corner act like a pair of friends that provide guidance and steer the car precisely into place.

Helping you hold the line

When it’s time to head out, the sensors can look past bigger vehicles as you emerge to make sure no one is speeding toward you. Out on the open road, the sensors keep an eye on your blind spots to make sure no one is hiding there before you change lanes.

If a distraction or strong crosswind causes an unplanned lane change, a new forward-looking camera scans the road ahead and provides a warning if you start drifting out of the lane. Lane Keeping Assist can even gently steer the car back into the lane to help keep you safe.

Like a driver’s eyes, the camera is only sensitive to light, so the Fusion now has an available radar sensor to power its adaptive cruise control and collision warning systems. When enabled, this sensor scans your path with reflected radio waves to measure the distance and closing speed to the vehicles down the road, allowing you to follow automatically while keeping a safe gap. If you get too close, the system can automatically activate the brakes to help prevent a collision.

It’s OK to talk to your car

Fusion also pays attention to your needs inside the cabin with hearing and touch. The capacitive touch control surfaces on the center console and display screen work just like modern tablets or mobile phones to provide a switch-free interface for media, navigation and climate controls using simple finger gestures and taps.

Like any good friend, Fusion listens, allowing you to set a comfortable cabin temperature, find your way home, or select favorite songs on mobile devices connected through SYNC® – all through the power of your voice.
You’ll find the Fusion abounds with smart technology that you never knew you wanted, but you’ll quickly find you can’t live without.

Modern life is powered by a rapidly expanding array of mobile technologies from media players and smartphones to tablets and beyond. Fusion takes the blending of mobility and technology to a whole new level – and does it so easily.

My Ford Touch Connected to Your Life

In today’s world the increasing ubiquity of mobile broadband and smartphones means that we’re never entirely disconnected, even when we’re behind the wheel. With SYNC® and MyFord Touch®, drivers of the 2013 Fusion can take advantage of that constant data pipe to personalize their in-car information and entertainment experience.

The high-resolution touch screen display in the center of the dashboard features new, simpler graphics that are easier to read at a glance along with faster touch response. The touch-sensitive controls on Fusion’s center stack are now easier to use as well thanks to the tactile feedback provided by a textured surface with bumps and divots, so drivers can keep their eyes on the road.

Best of all, MyFord includes an advanced voice control system that allows drivers to manage the temperature, get traffic and direction information, and select in-car or streaming entertainment options and more by talking to their car.
