Experiencing the Inside Story

The new Ford Fusion can change how you feel about a car. The first thing you will notice is its looks. Fusion’s sleek and graceful silhouette makes it stand out in a not so interesting car-scape of three-box midsize sedans.

Fusion’s got good bones, too. Get behind the wheel of any of the three unique Fusion models – conventional, hybrid and plug-in hybrid – and you’ll see design and engineering that exceed your expectations to create a very special experience behind the wheel.

Fusion is smart enough to know that your job is simply to enjoy the ride, and that starts with a premium, inspired environment.

Real care and thought has gone into Fusion’s interior, with high levels of craftsmanship that make the cabin an amazingly refined space. Run your hand over the instrument panel. It’s a surprisingly soft surface that signals quality to the touch. Gaps between adjacent panels have been shrunk, and each and every thing you can lay hands on is covered or upholstered. Fusion’s slimmer and lighter seats are not only more comfortable, but make for more room when you’re sitting in the rear, and a lighter vehicle overall. Materials added to eliminate noise give the car a composure that belies its affordability.

Whether you choose front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, be assured Fusion’s safety features will give you a peace of mind on the road. Ford engineers are constantly advancing safety technologies for your protection. Already a Top Safety Pick for three years in a row 2009-11, Fusion adds adaptive airbags and dual front knee airbags to enhance protection for your legs and extend its commitment to safety.

Whole body protection

Fusion’s serene and high-tech environment sets the stage for you to delight in its dynamic character on the road. Because at heart, Fusion is a joy to drive (yet with all the room you’d expect in a midsize sedan!).

The conventional model offers three different engines, each delivering dynamic performance while prioritizing fuel economy. You can get a smooth automatic or a precise manual transmission – either way, both are advanced six-speeds that enhance efficiency.

There is no detail on this car too small to have escaped the attention of Ford engineers and designers.

Fusion is the new face of Ford, perhaps the new face of midsize sedans the world over. But what’s under the skin is as compelling as its looks.

Go ahead, slam that door! It’s a sound that spells quality

Making Driving More Dynamic

“Of or relating to physical force or energy” – that’s how Merriam-Webster defines dynamic, and driving is all about translating and transmitting the forces commanded by the driver through their hands and feet to motion at the wheels.

“Accurately translating steering, braking and acceleration commands into motion is the key to a true driver’s car,” said John Jraiche, 2013 Ford Fusion program manager, “and that was our goal in tuning the new Fusion’s vehicle dynamics.”

The suspension lies at the heart of controlling motion and Fusion evolves the highly regarded strut front layout of the current European Mondeo while the rear end is supported by an all-new multilink arrangement. Drivers will benefit from a steering system with a more powerful electrical assist system with lower friction for more precise control and improved feedback.

Helping drivers extract the most from this solid foundation is a torque vectoring system that directs engine output to individual wheels, enabling the car to more precisely follow the course selected by the driver. Whether commuting to work or going for a country drive, Fusion’s dynamic qualities will leave drivers feeling more confident and relaxed.
